Welcome. Your areas of research and professional focus make the JMM an exceptional mathematical gathering.

We invite proposals representing the full spectrum of interests of the mathematical sciences community.

Proposers are particularly encouraged to keep in mind that artificial intelligence is a theme of these Joint Mathematics Meetings. Please mention AI connections in the Notes (Optional) field.

  • Final deadline for AMS Special Session (Submit to the AMS Program) - April 16, 2024 PDF

    • Panels, workshops, and other events approved by the Program Committee will normally be allotted a 60-90-minute slot.
  • Final deadline for JMM Professional Enhancement Programs (PEP) - (Submit to the JMM Program) - April 16, 2024 PDF
  • Final deadline for Other Partner Sessions - May 7, 2024

Please note no special sessions should be submitted to the JMM Program. Please submit any special session proposals to the AMS program or any of the other partner programs.

Steps and Instructions:

There is a five-step process to successfully submit your session proposal. During the submission process, you will proceed through one step at a time, only able to advance to the next step once all required information has been entered.

  • Steps are color coded in a bar along the top of your screen.
  • Steps that are light grey with white text and a check mark are complete. You can go back to them at any time by clicking on the label.
  • Please complete the full process for each session proposal you are submitting.

  1. 1. Programs

    In the list below, find the program to which you would like to submit your session proposal. Click 'Begin a Submission' for the program of your choice.
    PLEASE NOTE: You will be required to sign in with your AMS account after clicking 'Begin a Submission'.

    Setting Up an AMS Web Account
    You do not have to be a member to have an AMS web account. It is free and is used for online business transactions with the AMS. Register or update your web account here. You can also find it at the top right-hand corner on www.ams.org under "Sign in." Select "Register for a web account" to create an account or "Your account" to update it.

    Register with or update your account to the email address you want to use for communications about your proposal.

    After you have signed in, proceed with submitting your proposal.

  2. 2. Subject

    • Select the subject classification (MSC code) that best fits your session proposal.
    • Select the most appropriate subject from the list.
    • Click 'Save' at the bottom of the page.
  3. 3. Title

    • Title: Enter your title in plain text, the limit is 200 characters. Spaces and punctuation are counted toward the character limit.
    • Submitter's Email: The email address of the AMS account you logged in with will populate here. This cannot be changed. A link back to your submission will be sent to this email when you save the title step.
    • Select 'Session Format' (ie, special session, panel, workshop).
    • Published Description: This description may be used on the mobile app, website, and printed program. Character limit: 500 with spacing and punctuation.
    • Suggested Speakers: Please list at least 8 potential speakers if you are proposing an AMS Special Session. It is not necessary to have commitments from these individuals, but the sample list should demonstrate sufficient interest in such a session.
    • Notes (optional): Please provide any additional information about your proposal such as conflicts to avoid, preferred dates and times, and/or whether it has an Artificial Intelligence connection. Most accepted paper sessions (special sessions, contributed paper sessions) will be allotted between one and three half-day blocks, each four or five hours long. You may indicate how many half-day blocks you request for your session, but be aware that AMS may not be able to accommodate all such requests.
  4. 4. Description

    • Please enter a description of your session. You are limited to 3000 characters (including spaces and punctuation).
    • LaTeX or AMS-LaTeX code may be entered.
    • This description will be used for the purposes of review only, it will not be published.
  5. 5. People

    • Search by email or last name to see if the person you want to add is already in the database.
    • If they are not, you will have the opportunity to add their information and add them to your submission.
    • One organizer is required in the "People" field and it must include their full name, affiliation, and email address.
      • This information will be posted so they can be contacted by people who are interested in presenting in the session.
      • This person will also be the primary contact for AMS staff regarding this session.
    • Listing co-organizers will be at the option of the organizer. If included, their information must include their full name, affiliation, and email address.
      • This information will not be posted and will only be used by internal staff, if needed.
  6. 6. Confirmation

    • Preview the information you have entered.
    • When 'Conclude Submission' is clicked, an email will be sent to the submitter confirming receipt of the submission.
    • Your session proposal is *not* submitted until you click the 'Submit' button.
    • You will still be able to edit your submission until the deadline.

Notifications of Acceptance & Rejection will be sent by June 2024.
