Submission steps and Instructions:
There are six steps to successfully submit your proposal. Instructions for each step are listed below. Click the blue bar to open the instructions for that step.
Things to know before you begin:
- Inside the portal, steps are noted across the top bar of your screen.
- During the submission process you will only able to advance to the next step once all required information has been entered.
- Steps with a check mark are complete. You can return to a step by clicking on the label.
- You must complete the full process for each proposal you are submitting.
- Once submitted, you will still be able to edit your submission until the deadline.

1. Select the Correct Portal for Your Proposal
In the list below, find the program to which you would like to submit your session proposal. Click 'Begin a Submission' for the program of your choice.

- PEPs - JMM (Professional Enhancement Programs)

- Scroll down to that portal and click "BEGIN A SUBMISSION". It will ask you to sign in using your AMS account information.
You do not have to be a member to have an AMS web account. It is free and is used for online business transactions with the AMS. Register or update your web account here. Note: use the email address you want to use for communications about your proposal.
- After you have signed in to your account, return to the portal and proceed with submitting your proposal.
- You will notice Five tabs listed: Subject, Title, Description, People, Confirmation. Follow the steps for each below.

2. Subject
- Select the subject classification (MSC code) that best fits your session proposal.
- Select the most appropriate subject from the list.
- Click 'Save' at the bottom of the page.

3. Title
- Title: Enter your title in plain text (character limit: 200 including spaces and punctuation) LaTeX or AMS-LaTeX code may be entered.
- Converted Title: will show how your title will render.
- Submitter Email Address: This cannot be changed. The email address of the AMS account you logged in with will populate here. A link back to your submission will be sent to this email when you save the title step.
- Submitter Full Name: Enter your full name here.
- Session Format: Choose from the drop down. (ie, special session, panel, workshop).
- Secondary fields may appear based on your session format selection.
- Published Description: This description will be used on the mobile app, website, and printed program. Character limit: 500.
- Suggested Speakers: For an AMS Special Session please list at least 8 potential speakers. It is not necessary to have commitments from these individuals, but the sample list should demonstrate sufficient interest in such a session.
- Notes (optional): Provide any additional information about your proposal such as time conflicts, preferred dates and times, etc. Most accepted paper sessions (special sessions, contributed paper sessions) will be allotted between one and three half-day blocks, each four or five hours long. You may indicate how many half-day blocks you request for your session, but be aware that AMS may not be able to accommodate all such requests. Panels, Workshops, and Other events generally receive one 60-90 minute slot each. PEPs receive two 2-hour slots.

4. Description
- Please enter a description of your session, event, or PEP (character limit: 3000 including spaces and punctuation).
- You may copy and paste from your word processor.
- LaTeX or AMS-LaTeX code may be entered. Use the Preview Latex Conversion button to check how it will render.
- This description will be used for the purposes of review only, it will not be published.
- Click Save and Continue at the bottom of the page.

5. People
- Search by email or last name to see if the person you want to add is already in the database.
- If they are not, you will have the opportunity to add their information and add them to your submission.
- One organizer is required on the "People" step and it must include their full name, affiliation, and email address.
- This information will be posted so they can be contacted by people who are interested in presenting in the session.
- This person will also be the primary contact for AMS staff regarding this session.
- Listing co-organizers will be at the option of the organizer. If included, their information must include their full name, affiliation, and email address.
- This information will not be posted and will only be used by internal staff, if needed.
- Click Confirmation, which allows you a final review before submitting.

6. Confirmation
- Review the information you have entered.
- You'll have the option to print the page.
- Click SUBMIT to complete your submission. Your proposal is *not* submitted until you click the 'Submit' button.
- When SUBMIT is clicked, an email will be sent to you to confirm receipt of the submission.
- You will still be able to edit your submission until the deadline.
